My Journey: From Wake-Up Call to Sleep Coaching for Adults

My Crazy Story: The Wake-Up Call

Years ago, I was a new CDL driver, just like many of you, fresh into a training program. The relentless night shifts, the constant fatigue – it all caught up to me. One terrifying night, I was behind the wheel, my trainer asleep in the sleeper cab behind me. The exhaustion was overwhelming, and suddenly, I experienced a micro-sleep. Just for a few seconds, my brain shut down, no matter how much coffee I’d tried to drink. We didn't die that night, but the sheer terror of what almost occurred has never left me.

Why didn't I get sleep while the truck was being loaded? Because of a tragic incident at a Walmart, where a forklift loading a truck crashed through the sleeper cab and killed someone. This led to a strict rule: no sleeping in the cab while loading. So, I had to stay awake, often dealing with dirty bathrooms, nothing to eat but vending machine junk, and the crushing pressure to keep going. It was a brutal reality that many night shift workers face.

That moment changed everything. It ignited my passion to help others avoid what I almost faced. My mission is clear: to ensure no one else faces the dangers of night shift fatigue, and that every night shift worker can live a full, healthy, and strong life.

My Coaching Journey & Expertise

My background as an addiction counselor at IOU University, where I provided group coaching for thousands, has given me deep insights into behavior change and personal transformation. I've also had the privilege of coaching many college students, middle-aged professional men and women through significant life improvements.

My coaching is grounded in advanced, science-backed principles, including those learned directly from some of the world's leading sleep, stress, and burnout recovery doctors through the Precision Nutrition program and other coaching programs, courses, and resources I have paid for to become the best in the business.

My dedication to providing truly relevant and effective coaching means I remain deeply connected to the night shift experience. I actively immerse myself in the trucking industry, including through re-engagement with training programs (like Swift). This hands-on involvement ensures my strategies are always grounded in current realities, providing me with unparalleled insight that directly benefits my clients as I continue to build and expand Nightshift Strong.

My commitment extends beyond theory: I've been personally hired by a family to live with them and coach the husband in improving all aspects of his life – mental, physical, career, marriage, and anger management. This hands-on experience underscores my dedication to holistic, real-world transformation.
